Durable and sustainable Finnish furniture for SATO homes – Kankarin Kaluste Oy is SATO Partner of the Year 2019

SATO has selected Kankarin Kaluste as SATO Partner of the Year 2019. The award went to the company because of its strong sense of responsibility and desire to develop its products, processes and itself in cooperation with the customer.

Cooperation between SATO and Kankari has resulted in the creation of the KIDE range of bathroom furniture, ODI coat racks, waste trolleys and clubroom rugs tables.

“Kankarin Kaluste provides a flexible and speedy service. We’re really pleased with their responsible and sustainable approach and willingness to tailor products for our residents,” says Yaron Nadbornik, Chief Procurement Officer at SATO.

For Kankari sustainability means action

Kankarin Kaluste wants to develop sustainable furniture production and emphasises action against climate change in its operations. The Kide range has been awarded the Key Flag Symbol and Design from Finland mark showing that the products are made in Finland and feature high-quality Finnish design.

“We’re placing great importance in our production on recycling and sustainable energy use by, for example, investing in machinery consuming less energy,” says Heikki Mäkinen from Kankarin Kaluste.

Kankari has production facilities in Kihniö, Pirkanmaa, where it employs 60 people.

“It’s important for us to look after our personnel’s wellbeing as the work is very physical. We select all of our work methods so that they’re as ergonomic as possible.”

This was already the 15th time for SATO to select the Partner of the Year in order to encourage good players to develop their operations even further. The aim is also to draw attention to partners’ positive practices and attitudes.
