Everyday tip: Clean your cooker hood grease filter in an eco-friendly way
It’s a good idea to clean your cooker hood’s grease filter, especially before big celebrations like Christmas, Easter, or Mother’s/Father’s Day. This easy and rewarding task can be done in an environmentally friendly way using basic kitchen supplies.
The wonderful smell of cooking fills the kitchen week after week. After a while, you might notice that the scent lingers longer than before. This is a sign that the cooker hood filter needs cleaning. A dusty and greasy filter can pose a fire risk, as grease might even drip down onto the hob.
Improve the air quality and safety of your rental home by cleaning the filter.
The more you cook, the more often the filter needs cleaning. This cleaning task is effortless with basic kitchen ingredients. Baking soda and vinegar will do the hard work for you!
Before starting, clear the kitchen surfaces so you have space to dry the filter on the countertop.
Clean the filter as follows:
1. Remove the cooker hood filter. This can usually be done by pressing a lever or turning some screws.

2. Fill the sink with hot water and sprinkle just under 1 dl of baking soda into it. Place the filter in the sink and pour a generous dash, about 1 dl, of vinegar over it.
Take care of your home by tackling small cleaning tasks one at a time on a regular basis.
3. Let the filter soak. Once the water has cooled slightly, check if all the dirt has dissolved. If needed, wipe the filter with a cloth or a dish brush.
4. Place the filter to dry, for example, on a towel or the sink counter. Return the filter to the cooker hood once it is completely dry.
