11 August 2015
Architectural firms invited present themselves on 13 August
The architectural design competition organised by housing investment company SATO in collaboration with the City of Helsinki was launched in July. With the competition period mid-way through, on 13 August 2015, SATO is organising a seminar attended by representatives of all of the architectural firms entering the competition.
The aim of the competition is to gain new perspectives into sustainable living in view of future challenges and opportunities. The competition concerns a plot of land situated on Atlantinkatu street in the Jätkäsaari district of Helsinki. The competition is hoped to deliver a feasible and setting-appropriate turnkey design of high architectural standard.
Six acclaimed architectural firms from the Nordic countries and elsewhere in Europe are taking part in the competition: Archeus (FI), Helen & Hard (NO), Huttunen Lipasti Pakkanen Architects (FI), JDS / Julien De Smeds Architects (DK, BE, CN), SeARCH (NL), Tham & Videgård Arkitekter (SE).
Organised in Kamppi, Helsinki, the seminar will cover SATO’s aims for the architectural design competition and the objectives set by the City of Helsinki for the competition site in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki. Further questions presented by the competitors regarding the competition material will also be answered.
The seminar will take place in Voimatalo conference rooms (8th floor), Malminkatu 16 A, 00180 Helsinki, starting at 10:00. Members of the press are welcome to participate in the seminar and will also have the opportunity to meet the representatives of the architectural firms and ask them questions after the lunch break at around 13:00–14:00.
