Enchanting rental homes
One of our oldest buildings
The units in this centrally located late-Jugendstil apartment building have loads of character and natural light. The windows in sections A and B face Kalevankatu street and the inner courtyard while sections D and E have only courtyard exposure.
The building was designed by architects Wäinö Gustaf Palmqvist and Einar Sjöström. The street façade has been protected under the town plan as being of great value to the cityscape. The staircase walls in sections A and B are partly marbled and the fantastic original landing doors on each floor have been grained by hand.
The refurbishment completed in 2012 involved a complete modernisation of all units in sections D and F as well as most units in sections A and B. The units in section E and some of the units in sections A and B were converted from offices in the 1990s and private saunas were built in the units at this time. The most recent refurbishment concerned these units only in the form of new coats of paints.
This building is currently undergoing drainage work, which is estimated to be completed in mid-October 2022. Residents receive a rent compensation for the period when work is done in their apartment. The work takes 2-4 weeks per apartment, depending on the apartment. In some of the apartments, the work has already been done.
