Living in harmony with nature

Rental apartment in homely Hyrylä

Lively Hyrylä, the centre of Tuusula, will give you a warm welcome. Hyrylä has everything you need for your everyday life: children’s day care centres, schools and lots of leisure opportunities. The Rykmentinpuisto district currently under construction is a great source of pride locally – an urban village of the future where you can enjoy homely life in harmony with nature. You will find a rental home that is the perfect match for your life situation in Hyrylä.

Hyrylä is located close to the southern end of Lake Tuusulanjärvi, around 25 km from Helsinki and 5 km from Kerava, with Helsinki-Vantaa Airport not far away, either. The area has everyday services from health centre to grocery stores and lots of different leisure opportunities for the around 23,000 residents.

From military garrison to the administrative centre of the municipality

In the early 1800s, Hyrylä was just an ordinary rural village, but the starting signal for its development was fired by the establishment of the military garrison in the 1850s. Traders and craftspeople gradually set themselves up for life around the garrison. The completion of the Helsinki-Hämeenlinna railway in 1862 enhanced the area’s attractiveness even further. Industry emerging in the village by the railway line pulled in workers, trade was booming, and craftspeople were needed. And there has been no end to progress ever since.

Culture, education and handicrafts

In Hyrylä you can learn new skills whatever your age.

The children’s day care centre named after local illustrator Martta Wendelin provides early childhood education and care, and there are several primary schools (with one of them Swedish-speaking). There are two lower secondary schools, and the Tuusula Upper Secondary Schools offers special streams for music, visual arts as well as sports.

Completed in autumn 2023, the Monio Upper Secondary School and Cultural Centre also features a community college, a visual arts school, a music school and the Cultural Services of Tuusula municipality under the same roof. The community college operating in Monio provides learning opportunities that are open to all in fields including handicrafts, languages, physical exercise, music as well as visual and other arts. There is something for everyone in the 450 courses available each year.

And if this is not enough, there is the main library of Tuusula across the Tuusulanväylä road for even more culture and education. Food for the soul can also be found in the culture and nature sites along the road by Lake Tuusulanjärvi.
